GenAI is impacting the delivery of legal services – but in what ways? Asia-Pacific Legal Innovation & Technology Association (ALITA) brings together industry leaders and technology providers from across Asia-Pacific to foster dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collaboration around the opportunities and challenges presented by GenAI, followed by networking.

MEET THE SPEAKERS

Opening Speaker: Janice Goh

Partner, Cavenagh Law LLP (Clifford Chance Asia)

Janice Goh specialises in commercial dispute resolution with particular emphasis on white collar crime and financial services regulatory work including investigations and enforcement. She regularly advises international financial institutions and funds on a range of regulatory and contentious issues. Janice practised in Hong Kong with Clifford Chance before moving to Clifford Chance Singapore.

Speaker: Shameek Kundu

Executive Director, AI Verify Foundation

Shameek is a senior Data and AI professional, with 25+ years of experience across AI safety and testing (AI Verify Foundation, TruEra), Financial Services (Group CDO at Standard Chartered) and Consulting (McKinsey). Before joining AI Verify, Shameek helped build and scale an AI testing software business at Silicon Valley startup TruEra. He serves/ has served on multiple consultative forums on AI governance, including those of the Bank of England, the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the OECD/ Global Partnership on AI.

Global Legal Operations Program Manager, HSBC

David runs the global program for the HSBC Group Legal Digitizing at Scale strategy.  HSBC is implementing a digital ecosystem for request, workflow and knowledge management across all 60 legal offices around the world including multilingual, multicultural and regulatory specific requirements and user stories. Its global ServiceNow Legal Service Delivery module solution will be available for all 200,000 + HSBC colleagues to engage legal.

JP Biard

Chief Global Strategy Officer, LegalOn Technologies

JP is Chief Global Strategy Officer at LegalOn Technologies, a leader in contract AI, pioneer in AI contract review, and one of the most widely adopted & fastest-growing players in LegalTech. He is responsible for LegalOn’s global expansion and also plays an active role in AI strategy, partnerships, product direction, and the internationalization of the group. He brings over 20 years of experience in strategy, innovation, business development, sales, transformation, program/project management and governance across international projects, technology and finance. Prior to joining LegalOn, he held various leadership positions at Lehman Brothers and BNP Paribas. JP holds an MBA from McGill University.

Speaker: Brian W Tang

Co-Chair, Asia-Pacific Legal Innovation & Technology Association (ALITA)

Brian is ALITA's co-chair and founding executive director of award-winning interdisciplinary and experiential Law, Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship Lab at University of Hong Kong’s Faculty of Law (LITE Lab@HKU). Brian is one of the pioneering educators incorporating use of generative AI into his law school teaching and has applied his pedagogy to upskilling in-house lawyers, and also leads a climate contracting initiative involving leading law firms and legal departments in collaboration with The Chancery Lane Project. Brian previously spent nearly 20 years at global investment bank Credit Suisse in Hong Kong, and at law firms Sullivan & Cromwell in New York and Mallesons in Perth, Australia.

Shanice Choo

APAC Innovation Lead, Clifford Chance

Shanice is the Asia Pacific Innovation Lead at Clifford Chance, a space where lawyers, clients, and the legal community collaborate to invest in the future of legal services through new technologies like artificial intelligence and automation. Prior to working at Clifford Chance, Shanice led Responsibility efforts at Google (YouTube) in the Asia Pacific, where she helped defend and promote YouTube's interests in the face of regional regulatory challenges.

ALITA IS GROWING!
In 2024, ALITA has been hosting a series of successful in-person roundtables and gatherings around the region, with our ALITA India roundtable in March, ALITA Singapore gathering in May during ACC Asia Pacific Annual Meeting week, and Hong Kong roundtables for law firms and legal departments in May during FT Innovative Lawyer Awards week, and then a combined roundtable in Hong Kong in July.
 
This event is organised as part of Day 0 of TechLaw.Fest 2024 for our evening of discussion and community-building, graciously hosted by ALITA's Gold Member - Clifford Chance. This event will culminate in the ALITA Awards 2024 on September 12 at 4.30pm on the Main Stage at Techlaw.Fest held at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. Trade Visitor Pass are available for free here!
